What we're looking for:
We are seeking to hire a self-motivated, efficient, responsible Cook looking to grow and be part of a caring team. The 'Cook' is responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods according to specialized diets and therapeutic menus, recipes and plans cooking schedules to meet mealtime schedules. The Cook may direct other Food and Nutrition Services employees in the absence of the Food Service Director and the Assistant Food Service Director/Chef Manager. This is a direct hire: Part Time shift available.
What You’ll Do as a Cook:
- Utilizes safe knife handling and kitchen equipment to cook an assortment of foods that meet patients' dietary specifications.
- Prepares and/or pre-portions food (such as beverages, salads, desserts, and other items assigned by the supervisor) for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu and production sheets and as directed.
- Handles food using proper food handling and food safety techniques according to established policies and procedures.
- Insures that food is served in an attractive, appetizing manner. Uses proper tasting technique to insure quality taste and palatability prior to service.
- Maintains the proper temperature of food during preparation and service. Records food temperatures according to established policy.
- Assists with the setup of the tray line. Assembles trays according to the planned menu and tray tickets, stated portion, resident food preferences, and diet order and within the established time schedules. Assists in checking trays during service for accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned by Dietary Manager and Nursing Administrator.
What You’ll Bring as a Cook:
- Previous experience cooking in fast paced kitchen or healthcare setting required.
- Minimum of 2-3 years in healthcare, hotel, restaurant, school, prison or armed services cooking experience preferred
- Certified in Serv Safe or equivalent
- Meet all local health regulations
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
