Helen Evans Home (ICF/DD) has been serving children and adults with developmental disabilities since 1963.  We are a 42-bed residential facility for infants, children and young adults with multiple-disabilities such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and other genetic disorders.  Our age range is from 0 to 50.  We’ve worked hard to create a home-like environment while providing optimal level of health and maximum personal growth and development. 

We provide an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. We put an emphasis on staff training and development to ensure that the residents get the best care possible in a loving and learning environment. 

What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a compassionate and professional Director of Nursing to manage the nursing department and oversee the provision of healthcare for our residents.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and implement nursing department budgets in coordination with our management team
  • Ensure that patient care plans contain accurate documentation and are amended as needed
  • Recruiting, onboarding, and training new nursing staff
  • Developing short- and long-terms goals for the department, such as staffing goals, procedural goals, and standard-of-care goals. 
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team Meetings, which includes completing a nursing report, and coordinate the overall client care with the Program Director. 
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal policies and regulations
  • Work with multiple outside agencies including Regional Centers, Department of Children and Family Services, various local schools and adult day programs. 
  • Communicate and coordinate services with multiple local hospitals, such as Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Childrens’ Hospital of Orange County, Loma Linda Medical Center, and Miller’s Childrens Hospital. 
  • Communicate with resident families and physicians. 
  • Overseeing all record-keeping processes and ensuring all necessary documents are accurate and up-to-date
  • Other duties as assigned by Management / Executive Team.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 2 years of experience as a Director of Nursing is strongly preferred. 
  • Must be a Registered Nurse in good standing in the State of California. 
  • Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing when directing the care of residents.
  • Excellent multitasking and organization skills
  • Ability to lead, instruct others and motivate staff to provide quality care.
